Finch Cottage in an ideal place to stay for a walking holiday. Nestled within the small hamlet of Talyllyn this romantic cottage sits close to Llangorse Lake and between the Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons. It is within easy reach of the cafes and independent shops of Crickhowell and Talgarth, as well as the amenities of Brecon and the bookshops of Hay on Wye.

The cottage sits within the Brecon Beacons National Park and there are accessible walks straight from the cottage door, which can take you around the Lake and on to the hills. A popular area for road and mountain biking, there are a number of routes that run close to the cottage. There are plenty of easier walks too that can take in the local pub in Llanfihangel Talyllyn, or the wonderful fresh produce and baking at the Kitchen Garden at Ty Mawr, by the lake.

The cottage is the former cart house for our own home, Dolycoed and we will be on hand to welcome you. Then you’ll be left to enjoy the privacy and comfort of the cottage for the rest of your stay. The cottage has a simple layout, with a cosy but contemporary feel, and you will soon feel at home with the wood burner and spacious bedroom that takes up the full length of the top floor.

The kitchen and living area take up the downstairs, with a rustic terracotta tiled floor and warm rugs. There is an oak dining table, perfect for two and comfortable armchairs placed next to the wood burner. A Freeview TV and a DVD player sit next to the sofa but you may be happier looking out of the large French doors in to the garden and out towards the hill behind the cottage. The kitchen is fully equipped with a dishwasher, microwave, washing machine and induction hob and oven. The shower room is also situated on the ground floor.

Upstairs, the light filled bedroom is spacious and welcoming. Doors lead out on to a balcony that over-looks the garden and is the perfect place for breakfast or a G & T, as the evening light fades. Visitors to the cottage have access to the large garden and a private area accessed from the steps through the rockery: it is the perfect place to relax after a day out exploring or a quiet spot to read.
